I received the following inquiry from a person in Oakland, Ca. regarding his illness that the VA Hospital will not acknowledge.  If you have any information that would be helpful, or if you can provide a refernce for the Veteran, please let me know and I will forward the information to him.

Does anyone know about a type of leukemia called myelodysplastic syndrome - refractory anemia with ringed side oblasts (RARS) that may be a result of serving in Viet Nam? Possibly an effect of Agent Orange or other such chemical that was used during the Viet Nam war?
